Apple’s iPhone gets a release date
After the obvious success of the iPod, Apple will be hoping for similar results from its next major gadget: the iPhone. Although just about all of the details regarding the iPhone’s specification have been available for some time now, Apple has only just revealed that the release date for the iPhone will be on 29th June (presumably this year) - so if you want to have the next big thing from Apple, you better start saving $600 now. However, that date is only for North America and there’s no indication of a release date for Europe. If you want to take a look at the iPhone adverts on Apple's website, click here.

Wow. Im a total hater of all things Apple and I love the look of that phone.
My phone is broken...what a co-incidence :p? $600 is slightly out of my price range though :( |
Pathetic specs...no HSDPA.... no memory slot... 2mega pixel.... large in size... Is the usb/bluetooth 2.0? Or bluetooth 1.2....

Its a phone, not a laptop with a secure digital card reader As for 2mp camera, I hate phone cameras. To be frank they usually suck regardless of what spec they are. The lens is just too small for photos. It shouldnt be intended for taking photos for anything else but a wallpaper or storage/viewing on the phone itself. Quote:

A drop could mean......a big thing. Lol. Camera phones are common nowadays. It's like 95% of phones coming out have camera. So it's just a statement.

I guess I dont like them because they try to suck people in with no knowledge of phones/cameras/memory and other technology that the phone uses. |
i only use my mobile phone to make phone calls so i wont be buying one of these.

Most of that technology is kind of old technology. I wouldnt call it outdated, though several magz and morning radio shows have called it "old, outdated technology with what is currently available and referenced to the price point."
I like the sleek look of it and the touch screen dialing, at least, I Think that is what they say it has. However, if that screen ever goes dead or something, Im sure the repair bill will be astronomical. 2MP is decent for a phone. I have that on my Samsung Sync and the quality is pretty damn decent. My boss man has a 2MP Sony Ericsson Walkman style phone and the pictures he takes of our work processes and what not here at work, are phenomenal. I cant believe the quality of it. The idea of having a memory card slot is really easier to transfer files, music, etc., than messing with a cable and software. Its not a deal breaker though. In the end, its an interesting looking phone with some nifty features but should offer alot more for that price. Im assuming the $600 is with the $200 or so Cingular discount? |
I travel to Japan often, and the cell phones there are way ahead of the U.S. in terms of services available. Until GPS, Shopping, Email, etc... is an inexpensive mobile phone standard, there's no way in hell I'm going to spend $600 on something I won't even use. Also, I really doubt that dialing on this phone can be done without looking at the screen - how irritating. Google Phone FTW!

when it comes to mobile phones it is best to stick to a manufacturer with a proven track record, i expect a lot of teething with this phone as was the case with the ipod and the ipod nano's.

Yea, Nokia has always had the best interface. Ever since those first crappy black and white LCDs.
