Massive Thermalright CPU Cooler
Link to picture
I do hope this is fake...it looks impossible to mount or maintain! Not to mention the cost of all that metal! You could fit like, 9 x 120mm Delta fans on there to cool the whole case, and make a racket while you're at it. Well, I guess you could run it passive :p Comments? edit: nvm it can be seen here as well. I should have done a search for Computex first. Sorry :o edit2: oops they're different. |

must be for 2u servers. |
Personally I don't see either of those working all that well. Yeah, they are big, and yeah they will give a great woo factor, but the heatpipes are simply too long to be effective.

If you read the text that went with the picture you would see that they are not just CPU coolers, but cases as well. There was one tower model and one desktop model. Obviously, the whole idea behind them is passive cooling. In fact, Thermalright mentioned that they would not work as well as a regular HSF, unless maybe the AC was cranked up.
However, I do agree with your comment on being difficult to maintain, not to mention install. |
What a waste of engineering, metal, heatpipes, and money.
