Anyone running DX10 on XP?

I have come by a few places offering a test version basically of dx10 for windows xp..
I don't have a dx10 card, but have been considering downloading it and using it.. Just curious if anyone has been using it for xp and what they think of it performance/stability?

I am also beta testing longhorn *SERVER 2008 BETA*... OOOO I can't wait for the full release.

Beta testing longhorn????? Sorry but the final release is out... It's called VISTA:roll:
I'd have to think a port of DX10 to XP would not be very good:toast:

I don't get in the least whats funny about that...

Server '08 is going to rock. I love it, its FAR better than Vista dreamed of being *for obvious reasons* and a ton nicer then Server '03 IMO.

So from the sounds of this nobody here has run this yet?

AthlonX2 Jul 7, 2007 01:23 AM

i have longhorn server 2008 x64 beta is seems to run good for me...havent noticed to many driver issues..everything seem to load alot easier

Ketxxx Jul 7, 2007 01:34 AM

I'll be running server 08. Thers no way in hell I would let that POS known as vista ever run on my puter. i just barely managed 2 days of vista to try it out, and in all honesty, it just sucked. and i tried the vista "ultimate" edition.

Steevo Jul 7, 2007 01:43 AM

I have a download link. But no I can't share it. Server 08' that is. MS already called and asked if I had tried it yet.

Will DX10 run on my vid card w/o any problems? or, does the card have to be designed for DX10?

Steevo Jul 7, 2007 01:49 AM

No.

With the system in your system specs? I think that not only your card won't run it, your cpu won't either

BTW: Yes the card has to be designed for DX10

TXcharger Jul 7, 2007 01:59 AM

well any dx10 card COULD run it, just it wouldnt run well :) dx10 is just software

im quoting that from my dad when i made a big deal about dx10 coming out and he told me im stupid lol

I honestly don't know I can't find the regular download link for directx 10 and it doesn't come with server 2008 obviously.. But I'm more then certain it will.

Okay here it is... DX10 under windows xp is just a few file replacements to allow you to run games that require dx10 under windows xp without forcing you to upgrade to vista.. Also there is rumor that DirectX 9.0L will include support for dx10 programs under xp.

dx10 does work with server 2008, first time i ran lostplanet and coh dx10 patch, i had to add the dx10 dll manually , but after reinstalling server2008 i put the nvidia human head demo on and this appears to have added whatever was needed, as when i reinstalled lostplanet, coh,coj and the nvidia tech demos they all worked without a hitch (the first time, i couldnt get the nvidia cascades demo to work at all, due to missing dll's)
