Illegal File-sharing Network eDonkey Disabled
The second largest file-sharing network on the internet has been severely disabled in a significant coup for the music industry's fight against piracy. Seven servers on the notorious eDonkey network, on which millions of users illegally share music and other files, were this week shut down following orders by German courts, the International Federation of Phonographic Industry (IFPI) said. The closure would knock out about third of eDonkey's 4 million users and cause "a major disruption" to one of the world's "top three file-sharing networks" the IFPI said in a statement. Similar injunctions have been issued against eDonkey-linked servers in France and the Netherlands.

The truth. It'll never be stopped. |

To each their own when it comes to torrents, but they are just gonna keep shutting them down. In Canada, ISP's are already limiting bandwidth when they detect you are downloading from torrents. There is going to be a major bandwidth crunch in North America and until that gets eased, they have major reasons to clamp down on torrents. I do agree that shutting down a few servers is a drop in the largest bucket on Earth though.

they will never truly stop pirating, there will always be ways to spread the files.
The good thing here for them is, its a major blow. I dont know many folks still on edonkey, but with almost 2 million disabled, its a nice hit for them. |
I hope Canadian isp's dont clamp down on rapidshare.. so far mines been great.. I was dling 25 gigs every 5 days for some time lol

oh crap, the first rule of usenet is YOU DO NOT TALK ABOUT USENET :) (Now anyone who knows, knows that usenet owns noobs using torrents. You crazy kiddies and your torrents :P) |
