Intel Opening New Chip Plant in Arizona

Intel Corp. is opening a new $3 billion factory in Arizona, widening its lead over rival Advanced Micro Devices Inc. in the industry's switch to a new chip-making technique. The new facility in Chandler, Arizona, will be Intel's first plant dedicated to churning out 45nm microprocessors. Intel's new plant will cover 1-million-square-foot area, and shelter more than 1,000 workers. Intel and AMD currently make their most advanced chips on 65-nanometer technology, and both companies are spending heavily to outfit their factories with the cutting-edge equipment and technologies needed to make 45-nanometer chips.

Bamboo is also catching on as a very eco-friendly plant to use in your landscaping. Low water consumption, high O2 output and a really high carbon intake. Not to mention that it grows super fast!

Ah, but is it better than hemp? Though, I admit, I can't tile my floor in hemp; bamboo's got that.

So some more Intel stuff in AZ thats good to heard. AZ is probly the best state ive live in besides the weather being soooo hot and cali is the worst it just sucks in every way

WarEagleAU Oct 25, 2007 10:05 PM

Good to see america gettings some investment in it. AZ is a melting pot of companies in high technological fields, just like huntsville, al. The company I work for, General Dynamics C4 Systems, has a huge headquarters in Scottsdale.

AZ has had an intel presence for some time, but not like this, this'll almost make up for the employee cuts a few years back in AZ. nice to see highend jobs nearby as well. (as we've lacked those for some time here)
