Sparkle Equips GeForce 8600 GTS with LCD Screen

Sparkle Computer has updated its Calibre GeForce 8600 graphic card series. In addition to coloring the PCB black together with the stock cooler, Sparkle has equipped the Calibre P860+ with a (Graphics Display Por) GDP2 daughter card to provide accurate working condition surveillance for users. This daughter card use LCD with back light to show real-time GPU temperature, GPU working voltage, fan speed and Calibre Logo. Based on NVIDIA’s newest generation G84 architecture, the Calibre P860+ graphics card embraces factory overclocked 675MHz core speed, 1512MHz shader speed and 2000MHz 1.0ns 512MB GDDR3 memory speed. The card's price has not been announced.

thats a great idea...very innovative. now all we have to do when we want to check out our schway graphics card is take the sidepanel off our case or either leave it completely off or look around for a clear side panel which may or not be available for the case.

great idea but its one spanner short of a toolbox. its one cookie short of a cookie monster

maybe if they'd thought about it properly they could have given us a little LCD screen which sits in one of our floppy or CD-rom bays that wouldnt be too difficult. add a few wires. get a mold going for the plastics & volah.

It would make sense if it was a high end card but why a 8600?

HookeyStreet Oct 26, 2007 07:15 PM

The funny thing is, it will be priced the same as, or more than an 8800GTS 320mb, which at the end of the day, would destroy it!

jocksteeluk Oct 26, 2007 07:31 PM

id have to say that is a needless extravagance for a graphics card that is inside your case.

What a goofy idea. If these sell I will be surprised.Like Barnum said, "a sucker born every minute":p

Though it is rather gimmicky, I do see a niche for this. I personally would just rather use a piece of software and have all that information available to me on my monitor.

Yep, because there is no one in the world that already has a clear side panel and there aren't cases out that come with clear side panels...:banghead:

because all high end cards use the reference design, wheras 8600 and such can use a manufacturers own design, allowing them to add stuff like this (and turbo buttons etc)

um, hardware RivaTuner, ATITool/ATI Tray Tools, nTune etc.. very innovative Sparkle! how much is this going to cost vs. the FREE software alternatives? i am all for show but there's a line between shopping and shopping S-Mart.

lol.. or you could just mount a cheapo lcd screen on the side of ur card, or better on the front of your case like most of us do for that info :p

ShinyG Oct 26, 2007 09:44 PM

Wow, another "clever" marketing idea meant to diverge people's attention from the fact that the 8600 series is underpowered! What next, a toaster 8600 gts "super-mega-clocked" with one bios for each application you have!?! Wake up nVidia and give us a proper mid-range DX10 gpu!
Probably this is meant for enthusiasts that have cases like Antec's 900, but those will probably know better and go for a 8800 GTS 320 instead. I know I would...

nice idea sparkle! though i wish it was the 8800gts instead.. keep the great ideas rolling!! :Toast:

I would get one of these if it wasn't much more than the normal ones, and if it wasnt on an 8600. :D

newconroer Oct 27, 2007 09:09 AM

Aren't these the same blokes who put an aftermarket air cooler/LCS sink/TEC on an 8800 card?

I thought that was a silly idea, this is awful.

WarEagleAU Oct 28, 2007 02:18 AM

Pretty slick idea. Though a software controlled program does it just as well and more easily visible.
