P5N32-E SLI + Q6600 OC Tips Please!
Hi all
After some troubles with the 3870X2 I'm happy to announce that it is time to Brick my CPU! :D So I've been overclocking CPUs since the Intel 80468DX4 and lets say that I know what I'm doing! My last MB is the ASUS P5N32-E SLI nForce 680i SLI that many of you know very good! With the right BIOS (1203 that everyone at the ASUS Forums says it is the best for OCing Q6600) I can go to 3000MHz without any problems! I just change the FSB to 1333MHz and everything is OK. I use Liquid cooling for the CPU so at this frequency it is 45C at full quad core load and 30C at idle. I see that allmost everyone here is clocking the Q6600 at atleast 3600MHz. Can someone with the same MB explain my what should I do to the chipset voltages, HT Link voltage and multiplier, RAM Controller voltage, CPU Termination voltage, DDRII Termination Voltage, and so on. Many of the settings in the BIOS ar new to me and I don't know what is the best combination for my exact case! Any help will be apreciated! Excuse my English! |
im kinda in a same situation. Im running 1500 rated FSB on e6750, but anything over that is unstable. Havent really researched more or tried, because im happy @3ghz, but im quessing it has something to do with AUTO volts on NB-SB and chipset. My best quess would be to figure out manual volts for the IC´s and up them accordingly.
heres some good guide to OCíng the board: http://www.overclock.net/intel-mothe...ing-guide.html |
Thanks! It is a good article! I managed to get 3.37GHz stable! :)

u might want to use manual voltages on NB and chipset to avoid anything from frying. GJ on the OC BTW.
|
Yes I've set them manualy!
|
the problem with the nvidia chipsets is that they have alot of fsb holes, like if youre stuck at 1500 try going to 1600 or 1597 I found when I was running my 780i that if I did the overclocks in incrament of like 1557 or 1567 all ending in an odd number wether it was 3/5/7/9 it seemed to be more stable and boot when at 1556 it would not.
|
I tried 1600 but the system freezed every time while booting Windows. the last working was 1580 byt my Ram went to 780MHz even after I've been set it to "Unlinked" and 800MHz in the BIOS.

What are your NB and CPU volts at?
|
NB 1.50v but ASUS PC Probe is reporting 1.49V
SB 1.55V |
Nvidia GPU Ex: Disable
Spread Spectrum Control: Disable all of them Execute Disable Bit: Disable Virtualization Technology: Disable Enhanced Intel Speedstep: Disable Enhanced C1 (C1E): Disable HPET: Disable |
I running NB @1,4V wich seems to be enough for under 400FSB OC. If u read from the article i linked u it says that CPU VTT (whatever the hell it is) needs to be at 1.55V to gain higher OC. sorry im cant really speak from my experience since i havent really pushed this board far.
oh 1 thing im running 1.35V corevoltage and uner orthos stress test my temps would jump up to 68:eek::eek::eek: |
