Sony Japan Confirms Skype for PSP on March 18th

Sony has announced that Japanese PSP users will be able to use Skype services from March 18th. The software will be included in the next system update scheduled for this month, with Sony releasing official microphones to coincide with the communications service. Skype was originally due for Japanese release in January, but was delayed as Sony hardware failed to meet Skype specification. Sony Japan has also unveiled a new limited edition PSP bundle for the local market. The PSP Matte Bronze Value Pack will go on sale April 24th, priced JPY 23,800 (USD $227), and will come with the handheld, a pouch, hand strap, cloth, 32MB Memory Stick Duo and D Terminal AV cable. In addition, SCEJ will also release an official PSP Cradle & D Terminal AV Cable for the PSP Slim & Lite, also due for release April 24th.

So what was the solution? I have a PSP-1004, should i get rid of it and get the 2000?

As far as i know, only the new PSP Slims can run Skype. As i have the PSP-1001 i would have to get the new PSP to use it.

Thanks for the message.. Should I sell my new slim one for the GOW PSP and get this?

The way the slim one sits in ur hand is like a tetris bought from a supermarket, its light, but fragile, fatso on the other hand is solid. Mine made through several drops to a concrete floor from 1-1.5m height. Makes sad that i have to give up durability for performance while they could have been achieved together.

I have dropped mine several times and once from the top of the stairs all the way down and it did not break. How is the slim not durable?

Wow... really glad to hear that. I dropped the conclusion from my friends psp fell on a wooden floor and after that the umd drive cover started to open way too easy. Anyway thanks for the encouragement, i need that because of sloppyness :D
