Bye bye single core Xeon

Intel introduced its last single core Xeons, a low voltage 3Ghz model and a 3.8Ghz model. In addition they also introduced a 2.8Ghz model with 2MB cache. In the coming weeks Intel will most likely introduce its dual core Xeon nicked Paxville. Paxvilles dual core technoligy will be less crude than the Pentium D, it will have a simple arbiter so the system recognizes the CPU as a single one, this will make sure it works on the current boards.
Unfortunately Paxville will have a relatively short life, next year it will be replaced by Sossaman, a dual core server chip based on the Pentium M.

You could have almost garanteed that when the name "Xeon" came up you would be behind the post. :p
So the new server chips are to be based on Pentium M technology...seems Intel is getting away from the high clocked CPU's.
