AMD Releases ATI All-In-Wonder HD Series Card

AMD today expanded The Ultimate Visual Experience for North America with the ATI All-In-Wonder HD, combining award-winning ATI Radeon Premium graphics and ATI TV Wonder HD tuner technology card in one PCI Express 2.0 solution. As the newest multimedia powerhouse to join the long line of All-In-Wonder offerings, ATI All-in-Wonder HD transforms the PC into a highly immersive digital video recorder for HDTV and analog TV, plus expands the realm of exceptional gaming with cinematic HD graphics for mainstream PCs. Blu-ray disc playback can be enjoyed in full HD glory (1080p) thanks to ATI All-in-Wonder HD’s unified video decoder (UVD) technology, ensuring movies play back smoothly and with incredible detail.

The graphics core is derived from the Radeon HD 3650, 55 nm, clocked at 725 MHz (memory: 600 MHz DDR2). AMD claims that the graphics performance of the card will beat a standard Radeon HD 3650 by 5 to 15% in popular games. The card incorporates the ATI Theater Pro 650 chip. Other prominent features include ClearQAM, a hardware MPEG-2 encoder and full hardware acceleration for H.264 and VC-1. The Adaptive Comb-filter provides better image quality.

pbmaster Jun 26, 2008 06:02 AM

Wow I haven't seen one of these in a long time...good job AMD/ATi!!

Wile E Jun 26, 2008 06:04 AM

Sweet. It's about time they brought AIW back.

blkhogan Jun 26, 2008 06:07 AM

Nice! I was wondering when they would pull their heads out of their asses and get this bad boy back on the market :rockout:

DaJMasta Jun 26, 2008 06:13 AM

Now gogo hybrid crossfire with a 4850/4870 and you've got quite a useful TV tuner :)

Well im sure ATi would have done the same :p

ktr Jun 26, 2008 06:51 AM

That card and the 780g...that's a HTPC dream.

candle_86 Jun 26, 2008 07:02 AM

heck id take the 780G with a more powerful dedicated HDTV tuner myself, its a tad pricer but worth the extra cost

erocker Jun 26, 2008 07:06 AM

ATi love is in the air. Sign me up for one of these! I just hope the television part works well.:)

You're getting a graphics card + HDTV tuner (with full native-processing, the CPU is not burdened) + sound card ( 5.1 channel HDMI pass). What more could you ask for? Buy this with a cheap ($50) nForce 520 or AMD 690G board, you end up with an awesome HTPC capable of 1080p, and also transcodes HD 1080p to H.264 in real-time (single stream).

ShinyG Jun 26, 2008 07:22 AM

Nice one ATi, now give us a 4850 AIW! :D
That would be a true all-in-one tool for HD home movie makers!

snuif09 Jun 26, 2008 07:35 AM

sweet and if its faster then my x1950pro i might even buy it for gaming:rockout:

Wile E Jun 26, 2008 07:40 AM

The only thing I wish they could give the AIW cards, is CrossfireX support.

HTC Jun 26, 2008 07:44 AM

Quick: someone point JrRacinFan (sp?) to this topic.

EDIT

I must have confused JrRacinFan with someone else: i thought i remembered JrRacinFan having links in his sig about the AIWs but it appears it's a different dude that has it instead.

The part of the PCB where the bridges are supposed to be is occupied by the HTDV tuner. The tuner can't be repositioned since the coaxial port can't extend into the card, the CFX bridge can't be relocated on the side of the card since ATI maintains a universal location for the bridges on the PCB, X1950 Pro onwards. :(

They could've remotely mounted the tuner, and mounted the coax in a manner similar to the DVI ports.

You can still CF through the motherboard though, the bridges arent exactly 100% necessary.

Good point Tk, and the performance hit wouldn't be huge, considering the 3650 probably doesn't tax PCIe too much and PCIe 2.0 even less, compared to a higher end card.
Would be nice to have CrossfireX, with four of these, making four TV tuners.

rofl. Would be nice if they released a HD3450 AIW on PCI-E 1x. AMD should have made a HD3850 AIW, except using a dual slot cooler so that heat can actually be exhausted, instead of being pumped into the reciever.

PVTCaboose1337 Jun 26, 2008 12:47 PM

WOW! The AIW is now back! I am quite surprised!
