Intel Prepares Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad Price Cuts on October 19th
 

New reports suggest that on October 19th (on my birthday) Intel is planning to cut the prices of several Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad processors. According to the report on that date prices of the 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 and the 2.3GHz Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 will drop from $193 to $183, and from $224 to $193 respectively. Intel's dual-core 2.66GHz Core 2 Duo E7300 will fall from $133 to $113. In addition the company plans to introduce a new 2.8GHz Core 2 Duo E7400 part on that date too.

Nonetheless, interesting info. Q6600 remains an all-time-great. Still a very competitive CPU.

When they drop the E7200 under 80 bucks is the day I will buy one.

hell, when they drop the price of the e8600...THEN I will be interested, it still hasn't changed a penny since it's release:(, the e8500 is still a 100 $ cheaper and not all that different (just different enough for me to want to wait for the e8600 to come down in price).

If at the time of the price cuts I have enough, then I 'll get a couple of Q6600 s and OC the living daylights out of them!!!:D

+1 but its a shame the new batches dont overclock like the older ones did
