It's a ridiculous card anyways. It's 2gb's of GDDR3 limited by a 256 bit bus. The 1gb of GDDR5 on a 256 bit bus is not restricted on the 4870 and is a much better buy.

Agreed

yea true I may change my whole upgrade thoughts now, I was kinda looking to the 2gb, but I guess its a joke. wonder what crossfire would have brought with 2gb though probably not much.

lucasweir Dec 11, 2008 07:34 PM

yea 2GB isnt needed yet unless you have crazy resolutions

This is true I'm looking to upgrade to either 2 4850 1gb's single slots, or just add another 4850 at 512mb, Actually I got another one I'm thinking about but that may cost too much

lucasweir Dec 11, 2008 07:59 PM

i would go with another 512MB then youll have a 1GB and you have crossfire :)

Aceman.au Dec 11, 2008 08:49 PM

I should get it today... I'll tell you how it is if I get it... (Thats if Im not testing it in games)

Prash Dec 12, 2008 02:11 PM

Hi all. I ordered my card yesterday!!

Guess what, i was sure about buying 4870 1GB at $239.9. But...the elusive but....i changed my decision at the last moment, and guess what, i am going to the greener side instead of the red side......

Yup, i ordered a standard EVGA GTX 260/216 core for a drool price :D

I got it from here http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?p=EV-...e6e9c0b46027f4

The price was and still is: $202.91 + $14.03 (US Shipping to NY) + $0 (NY Tax) = $ 216.94 :D

And then a friend of mine at US is shipping it to India.
