Atom 330 Netbooks

Does anyone have any idea when the atom 330 (dual core atom 1.6ghz) will be out for netbooks?

I believe there's a new range of netbooks coming out in March-April time. Might be then?

I doubt we will see many netbooks based around the 330. Too much power consumption for little to no performance boost for the target market.

Intel has specifically said it does not wish the 330 to be used in netbooks; nVIdia MIGHT release it with the Ion platform for netbooks, but I doubt it.

The 330 drinks too much for a netbook. It is basically 2x 230 slapped together. Yes, it is low power for a desktop, but compared to the NETBOOK processors, N270/280 is would drain the battery too quickly.

A N370/380 would be PERFECT. However, that isnt on the roadmap unfortunately. Time will tell. I'm sure they will come up with something. But on a netbook? Such parallel processing power isnt needed for Internetting or MS Word etc. And you typically dont use a netbook for a server or crunching or VM. However, for a desktop/mini-server devices, a N370/380 would be brilliant.

(See my Atom 330 thread for benchmarks)
