Using 8800GTX as a dedicated phyx?
I currently am running a GTX 295, would a 8800GTX be enough to be used a dedicated phyx card? I see on the EVGA X58 Classified they run tri-sli with a 9800GT? as a phyx card?
*How much would a used 8800GTX cost around right now? |
An 8800gtx would be a waste for a dedicated physx card. Something like a 9600gt/gso or 8800gt/gs would be fine for folding. You don't need anything more powerfull than that.

alrighty, thanks for the help! btw i see alot of topics on folding and such. I saw the video of the pc with the crap load of gtx 295's for folding@home or something. Could you explain what folding is?

You should be able to find everything you need to know about folding in the tpu folding section:
http://forums.techpowerup.com/forumdisplay.php?f=67 I don't know much about it myself because I don't fold. |
Sweet, thanks so much.

I read an article that says that is way better to have just a single high end gpu doing all the work rather than have another one doing the work of physx.
My vote goes to sell it. |
