Point of View Out With 2 GB GeForce GTX 285
NVIDIA partners seem to be gaining interest in releasing GeForce GTX 200 series products with double the amount of memory. Several partners have announced 1792 MB variants for the GTX 260 and GTX 275, while GTX 285 with its lavish 512-bit memory interface is facilitating 2 GB of memory. Point of View now has one such model of its own.
The card uses reference clock speeds as far as the GPU goes: 648 MHz (core) and 1476 MHz (shader), while going light with its memory, 1161 MHz against the reference speed of 1242 MHz. The rest of the card is pretty standard: 240 shader processors, acceleration for NVIDIA CUDA, and support for PhysX technology, and 3-way SLI support. http://www.techpowerup.com/img/09-04-27/71a_thm.jpg Source: Tweak.dk |
Sweet card. I bet the 4870x2 barely edges this card out.

Yea the extra 1GB will make this card crush even xFired 4890's.

What a joke.
They should have just went for the uber l33t 4GB models. Nobody uses puny 2GB cards anymore... |
How about instead of doubling the memory on the card companies double the memory bandwidth.
That would make for a nice re-release of a card. |

This card wont do much on its own, but wait till you start seeing SLI and Tri SLI benchmarks with 2gig frame buffers, it should realy do well in game like Crysis, GTA and FC2.
|
this card will completely and utterly dominate and destroy 8 4890x2's in crossfire!

Wait until games start using more than more than 512mb of frame buffer even with 8xaa turned on. I don't even see that level of usage on COD WaW on XP at 1920x1200 with 8xAA/16xAF. Besides, if your running 32 bit XP/Vista you just lost another 1gb of usable memory something that helped my performance in WaW when I went to x64 Vista and 4gb. Now it uses up to 2.5gb of memory instead of just under 2gb in XP. It does help pick up frame rates. I can't see the game using more than 640gb at 2560x1600 with the same aa/af levels. Maybe once 64 bit OS are common will game developers start using more frame buffer memory.

I've never heard of point of view, but that sticker looks pretty sweet. |

gtx295 is only 10-15% faster than hd4870x2 in lower resolutions. In high res, high aa they perform the same (these cards are mostly used in high res - around 1920x1200 or 1080p). And they are both much faster than gtx285. In 1920 and 8xaa, the hd4870x2 is the winner, not the gtx295. http://www.hardware-infos.com/tests....st=66&seite=15 http://www.computerbase.de/artikel/h...formancerating |

Ha ha look at all the fanbois rage!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wont this extra memory only really help when AA is on, coupled with big resolutions (2560 x 1600)? In which case people with those screens would most-likely have X2s/295s anyway. |
This card is a ridiculous waste of ram - would GTAIV even use that much?
