what about between this cards:

MSI R4890-T2D1G OC Radeon HD 4890 1GB (Overclocked at 880MHz) $199 with $30 rebate total $169 A/R (newegg)

Msi rma is great actually so even if the card dies u can easily get a replacement. I say 4890

I have been using the MSI 4890 for a couple months and it runs great. Got the core overclocked to 950 on stock voltage and heat-sink.

Or pay the extra $30 and have a double life time warranty from XFX ( $200 ) and not just a year.

to give a relative performance approach, the 4870 sits between the 260 and the 275 from Nvidia, price, performance is closer to the 275

i have to say you will get more performance with a HD 4890 1GB . If you are looking for a good deal a HD4870 512 will be the best choice , because there is no big difference between 512 and 1024 versions . So if you wish to save some money , get the HD4870 512 . If you have the extra money to spend , go for the 4890 , don`t waist the money on 1024 version of HD4870 . Both MSI and Sapphire are great , i don`t have any preferences , the cards will give you the same performance and same warranty , both have good customer support if you have issues , so buy the one that offers you a better bundle or whatever . Doesn't really matter ... I bought from GALAXY or PALIT my videocards in the past and i am still satisfied with the products ( GTX 260 216sp from both manufacturers ) , and i own a 4870 2GB version from Sapphire , witch is working great .
So to sum up : go for a HD4870 512 and save money ( next generation cards are on the way )
Go for the HD4890 to get the best performance ( if you don`t plan to upgrade in the near future )
Pick the manufacturer that offers the best bundle , or a better cooling solution , or whatever ..
Both manufacturers are reliable !
