I would simply clear the bios on the motherboard, reboot and set PC to load auto defaults. If successfull on the next boot, then add in the XMP to adjust the memory speed.

I cant explain why the games shut off the function, but I have an idea. You could try setting Macros for the volume and see if they work. I know it is sort of redundant to have two sets of buttons...
