ATi / AMD tends to use smaller less robust shaders in larger numbers
Nvidia tends to use giant big ass shaders....

well again that comes down to the CPU bottleneck Phenom IIs encouter with dual gpus... which is why i pushed so hard for the upgrade to an i7 with a good gpu.

Nah. You shouldn't worry really. Both are high end cards and to make it easier for you to understand, HD6870 is twice as fast as your current HD5770. HD6950 is even faster than HD6870.
