I haven't heard that. It might be true, but regardless, if you buy two 500GB drives you've doubled your chances of a HDD failing. Any instability issues that 1TB drives have is unlikely to approach...

Given that they seem to be pretty much the same card, and that it would be using the 6970 bios, I'd guess it'd be pretty much the same as the 6970 in terms of noise.
