Yeah, you'll be ok doing that, but it would be best to unplug the extra drives just to be safe, I've never (ahem) formatted the wrong disk.

M.2 does not have to have both pcie and sata, it can be either/or. That Asus board assumes you want the fastest, with would be pcie. JJ from Asus...
