I was thinking the same thing, but tests will tell. They could certainly design it so it's vertical, making the pipes shorter.
The thing that really strikes me is the air/fan design - a large diameter (and long) impeller that throws air out on all sides, and sucks cool air into the middle. I hope this works well and they improve on the idea.
Oh yea, and it looks cool too
