I think that might be the issue Mussels. There are people that get "unwarranted" infractions. That is... they had no motive to cause offense, but used some words carelessly, sometimes even adopting the vernacular of moderators/admins/staff. Then WHAM they can infractions for it.
They they follow the procedure of making a polite complaint of the infraction and the hostility escalates. Then the member kicks it "up the moderator chain" and gets nothing. Just ignored.
Consequence: Infraction that moderators see for years to come... only ENCOURAGING them to infract again because they are
repeat offenders.
1./ Expired infractions need to disappear forever... or indeed, they havent really expired. They are still there for the next moderator/admin to suck his pencil on and go, yep, hit it.
2./ If a member politely kicks an issue up the seniority chain it
must be answered. Even if it is a stock polite answer without change. You have to do it. Otherwise it diplays arrogance or indifference, and as you can see from previous posters... that experience has a long memory.

This is dead easy to implement. Someone of the mod team just needs to come up with a policy/protocol and commicate this too all. That way everyone is systematically treated the same way rather than all this ad-hoc stuff going on.

As always, TPU is still a better forum than most. No complains there. But never give up on the concept of there is always room for improvement.
