I actually have prefer steam. Don't have to pop in the disc every time you want to play a game or worry about losing the disc. Yeah you can't sell your games but I always buy games so cheap on their (I won't buy a game if its more than $5, maybe $10 for a really good one) that its not really a big deal. I definitely get my moneys worth out of them.

I picked it up and Prince of Persia - sands of time. I don't play many games so the navigation is a bit weird, but I'm adjusting. Loved Portal. Hope they do (did?) a sequel.

You will still have to play the games through steam. That is just the software so you don't have to download it. The keys are registered through steam then you have to launch each game from steam.

Good thing I never bought it then.

I don't play any Valve software because of Steam. And no, most illegally distributed software these days are taken from Steam because Steam is much easier to break than the other DRM brands out there (SecuROM and especially Tages).
