BUT word over at GSC is that the devs have been sending out betas of the game to some trustworthy, 3rd-party tester . . . they're not doing testing "in-house" like they had done with SoC and CS. This could ultimately spell out a much less buggier experience than we've had in the past.
It's a shame, too . . . the engine itself isn't really buggy - hell, it's quite solid and reliable. It's the scripting (in other words, the files containg the LUA code that are used for executing functions that control the AI logic and enemy lairs, NPC behaviours, weather behaviours, scripted events, etc.) that causes so many problems. Due to the vast number of actual script files, small issues and contradictions arise that generally go overlooked, and don't present a problem until having spent hours upon hours upon hours of playing - as these "issues" are packed in with the saved game . . .
