I have an eVGA9800GX2, it's performance is so bad. I got only 12k in 3Dmark06, poor FPS in every game I test. I have to say it's performs like a single 9800GTX. And what so strangle is when I disable 1 core, the performance still the same. Which make me confuse is GPU-Z, Device Manager still recognize both of my GPU, nothing wrong except the Performance. I've tested it with ATItool and no Artifact Detected, what's wrong with my VGA? Please help me
PS: I'm using newest WHQL Driver from Nvidia.com

In a state of flux...
Fill in your System Specs in the User Control Panel first. :)

Second, check to make sure SLi is enabled in the driver suit.

Yep, Multi-GPU mode is Enabled. I'm using Windows seven x64, everything is up-to-dated. I can't find any reason for this poor performance, so strange. If one of two cores is damaged, it must not be recognized, right?

Just one, HD4850 and I never mind to pick up another red guy.
Btw, my PSU is good enough to handle this 98GX2, both the 6 and 8 pin connector are connected firmly.

No of course! I removed the 4850 completely.
Here is my rig:
Q8200@2.8Ghz
2x2G Corsair
9800GX2
CM Extreme Plus 650W.
The HD4850 performed better than the 9800GX2 in my system, how shameful.
@Assassin48: Yep, the latest.

Could it be the driver compatibility? I don't know but Nvidia discontinued this VGA and I think they may barely care about the compatibility of this new driver with 9800GX2.

Well, nothing. It's just blowing the heat to my two HDDs. Maybe I'll try to remove the cover to see the difference. Turn off my PC now to blow the cover up -__-

Correct my 2cents. yeah, now that people mentioning it that thing is overheating like no tomorrow. No wonder on performance decrease. check the fan.. fan spinning? and 88 degrees? ;P

1. I would uninstall NVIDIA drivers all of them.
2. wipe the drivers with Driver cleaner (and check HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Video this registry key (sorry, if it's wrong can't verify but should have NVIDIA install settings, resolutions etc etc 'key'-folder))
3. reboot, where afetr would check that NVIDIA card is recognized as 'Standard VGA'
4. Check web for last suggested drivers for 9800GX2 & install those.
5. check the control panel that 'advanced' or 3D mode is at 'selectable' on first 3D screen and check the settings on second 3D settings screen.

There's what I would do. Always time to time nice to wipe everything down and go through the 'start' to collect the 200. :)

2cents

I really don't beleive it's drivers guys. I think it's a hardware problem with the fan.

I really don't beleive it's drivers guys. I think it's a hardware problem with the fan.

he said the fan is blowing which means the driers arent picking up his sensors....which means the driver install is bad.

and besides he might just be looking at a diffirent core...one pcb controlls the fan ....but you can drop down and look at both gpu's but only core 2 will sow fan speed...if it shows up as zero on both of the cores then i revert back to my previous statement.
