Samsung Develops USB-Powered 18.5-inch Display

Samsung hit a new "low" in terms of monitor power consumption, and developed an 18.5" display that draws all its power from USB ports. The new yet to be named display was shown off at the SID 2010 event. The 18.5" display uses a TN-film panel with a native resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels, 250 cd/mē maximum brightness, 1,000:1 contrast ratio, and LED backlit illumination. The panel needs just 6.3W of power, which it draws from two USB 2.0 ports. It also draws display connection from one of the two USB ports. Samsung's USB-only LED-lit LCD displays will debut in 2011.
