Wattage doesn't mean a damn thing unless you're talking about extreme dB levels. 1watt of power will drive most speakers to 85dB or more. For instance, my Simaudio I-5 integrated amplifier produces 70w per channel stereo - and will blow you out of the room (with proper speakers of course).
