Check the url. If it doesn't link directly to a domain owned by Sony (
www.network-tools.com and do a whois query), it's fake. Keep in mind that a link can say one thing and link somewhere else. Always examine where it actually links to, not the obvious text.
Sony would never send an email out linking you to a third party site they didn't mention in a press release. Most likely the link looks fake just on the face value of it.
