Maybe i'm missing the point here but,

Why would Read only stop you from Copying something, basic logic says that files on a read only partition can simply be copied onto the Local storage of the device using a memory card

CD-ROMs are read only memory, and that doesn't stop people copying them, because being able to read a file is all that's needed to copy it

All this does is stop people deleting stuff
