Look, I've got a GTX 580 when I could have got the 570 for a lot less and only a little less performance, but that wasn't good enough for me. Love my 580 and glad I got it.
Considering the unprecedentedly small difference clock for clock between the two I'd make the argument that the 680 is in some way crippled. That extra shader cluster is nearly useless. Get a 4 GB 670 and suddenly you're even faster than a 680 clock for clock (for still less than a 680's cost.)
