Why I said any upgrades to the tower it's self would be overly-expensive and yeild minimal gains.

Fully agree with sticking to socket 1155. A 2nd GTX670 at the OPs current resolution would be extreme overkill. That's why I suggested higher resolution monitor(like Fourstaff mentioned) or multi-monitor.
