OP, if you want the fastest card out of the box, go with the HD 6870.

It is still a very relevant card, and good for 1080p if that's your resolution.

Ahh I see you have a 6870. Got it. No it wouldn't make sense for you, but with the way drivers are right now the nvidia card will likely only get better and the AMD card wont seeing how the last set of drivers did zilch for them...The 650Ti would be a better buy right now choosing between the two.
