Just saw this thread, and my first reaction was that I was disappointed in the lack of higher resolution monitors at CES. Apart from the 4K TVs that I won't be able to afford for a long time.

Then I saw this article about a new acer laptop display.

If they can cram 2880x1620 into 15.6", that would be pretty high desnity.

Now just put that in a 24" or 27" monitor, and it would still look good to me.
