I am from Czech Republic, sorry for mistakes

Hi. I have bought AMD Radeon HD 6950 1 GB. I tried to unlock shaders. So I downloaded this BIOS http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/94179/gigabyte-hd6950-1024-101220.html and edited it through RBE. I overclocked it to 900/1325 and unlocked shaders. I flashed it, POSTed succesfully. But when loading Windows 7 ( pulsing logo ) i get BSOD :( So I tried to flash my original BIOS. But when I try to flash it( atiflash -unlockrom 0 + atiflash -p 0 -f CAYMAN.ROM, i get error - ROM not erased ! This never happened to me ... I don't know what to do ... :banghead:

Hi

Welcome to TPU

Driver Removal Before Flashing at a Dos Prompt
Where AMD Catalyst Drivers uninstalled before flashing ? If No; will need to access windows safe mode [Press F8] when booting system; use third partie uninstaller ATI Man or Other; next: reboot to windows and re-install the latest driver from AMD or one that you know is stable and restart windows [*May clear the BSOD]

Uninstall and deap clean AMD vga drivers
download this DDU to clean out drivers, you can get that here:
Disable UAC (User Account Control) in windows control panel [this can be re-enabled at a later time]
install to C:\
Run Atiman Uninstaller.exe
Select: A
system will reboot
Select: C
application will end [reselect application window]
Select: Q

*If the BSOD still occurs; may need to reflash using the method below

Re-Flash
*Maybe the vbios that was flashed had write protect; will need to attach wire to vbios between Pin 8 & Pin 3 to enable write [vbios chip PM25LV010]
May need to remove the fansink/heatsink; attach a length of wire (use wire from an old 80pin ide cable; ensure this is firmly attached; solder or loop the wire; ensure it dose not have any area exposed to other components on the PCB) and then replace fansink before installing the vga card.
Example:
Pin 8 & Pin 3 wire short pin WP.jpg

8 & 3 pin wire loop vga vbios.jpg

View attachment Pm25LV512-010.pdf

Next: copy latest version of atiflash here and backup of vbios image or original vbios image to a bootable flash drive

Next: boot to a dos prompt;
type atiflash -ai 0 [check the information/position of vga card]
If happy with position of card and no errors
Next:
type atiflash -p -f 0 [VbiosName.rom]

NB: Next time you are logged in to the forum goto User CP and fill in system specs; hardware; brandnames and OS

atb (all the best)
