Suggest some under 80$ video cards for moderate gaming

I have a very tight budget.I am using a PSU that came with the casing.I want to know if spending about a 100$(about 80$ on GPU,additional 20$ for PSU) would improve anything.

Here's my rig:

Intel DG31PR motherboard

Intel E5300,2.60Ghz

320GB SATA HDD

2GB DDR2 Ram(800Mhz)

Gigabyte 1GB 9400 GT(factory-overclocked)

220W PSU i think

These are of my interest:

HD 6750 HD 7750 HD 6570 and HD 6670

Also tell me if my motherboard would be able to support it.

It's almost 4 years old.

Even if i do upgrade my video card would i get any decent improvement over the one i have?I've notice quite a few games requiring shader model 5.0 so its better if they come with it.

I get about 125FPS constant in COD4.

Do i need to upgrade anything else?

Thanks in advance ;)

7750 is the best of the bunch and would be an improvement over the 9400 GT

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-card-review,3107-7.html

14 tiers separate the 9400GT and the 7750. The 7750 is equal to a GTX 260:

People who buy the these cards(HD 6850/GTX 460) are highly unlikely to let go off them before their warranty expires(at least 2 to 3 years).Even if someone does sell it it'll be somewhat pricy(they'r already 150$+).

I know about that PSU.I think i need to buy a new one but the price varies so dramatically it's really tough to choose one i.e Logisys 550W costs around 25$ whereas that of Antec costs around 60$,in some extreme cases,90$ lol :p

Do you reckon my mobo can support these cards? like slots and all? i am a newbie when it comes to motherboards :p

If you have a 220 watt PSU it will not handle this card

7750 works with a 220W PSU.
Is this a prebuilt system?

You need to tell us the exact model of your PSU. Ideally, you could take a photo of it's label and post it here.

It's really not all about stated maximum wattage, it's about the quality of the PSU and it's reliability. Logisys, for example, is a manufacturer that is to be avoided at all costs and at all times, no exceptions.

220W would be plenty for a E5300 + HD7750, if it's from a good manufacturer, say Delta, LiteOn, Seasonic, etc.

This PSU Antec VP-450 450W ATX 12V v2.3 Power Supply - Newe... and an ~$60 used GPU from ebay or the forums would suffice I would think.

Powersupply first. don't even think of upgrading your GPU with that 220watt. You're just asking to possibly lose your entire system.

i'd get Corsair CX430watt. Quality brand, great ratings, 32 amps on 12v rail. Only drawback is the 1x6 pin PCI-E connector. But from your position that and a decent card will do nicely.

Search on the FS thread, many great deals there. I just got an 8800GT for 30 bucks shipped; not the greatest card, but can still run a lot of games quite well at lower resolutions.

FS here
HD 6770, $55 shipped
HD 4850 $40 shipped i'd probably try to finangle a touch.
8800GT, $30 shipped This is where i got mine for a super cheap build.
GTX 550Ti, 80+shipping, but i think you could get it for 80 shipped.
GTS 250, $40 shipped

Any of these cards would do WONDERS for you gpu wise, we're talking 8x-20x performance depending on which one. Obviously the GTX 550Ti will provide the best performance, but the HD 6770 isn't far behind and is your best perf/money deal there imo

Yeah, get a better psu first. Then, well I could let go of used gtx260 cards for 50can, or even lower. You probably can get used 460s for about the same price. You can get very decent, guaranteed working used stuff from TPU members.

what kind of games do you play?

the rig you have there right now is pretty balanced. i am afraid a dual core will bottleneck the 7750.

and the PSU is a must change at this point.

Or
SILVERSTONE SST-ST40F-ES 400W ATX 12V 2.3 80 PLUS ...

Surprisingly enough, with that psu you could practically run any card if you wish if you don't overclock.

your system should probably be left alone... and you should get a nvidia card to replace what you have... your system is from around 2008... and back then all games seemed to Optimized for nvidia (i bought only ati cards til around 2011)

so saddly, get a NEW gt630 with the 64bit bus...(the one with the gk208) (thing is , any used card is going to require alot of power... for example a gtx9800 can pull 220 watts max, and idles at 35 watts and only supports dx9)

i do not have experience with low end amd cards because i have been Experimenting with linux and mythbuntu and Nvidia cards are alot easier to use under linux and they have VDPAU...

but your cpu e5300 gets 1348 on passmark... and a lowly g1620 (i bought one for 50$ can... it gets 2802... a g2120 is better (and uses 1600ddr3) but that costs 80 dollars. and gets 3000 on passmark. a q8300 gets 3048...

2GB ram is too little.

but since you are used to "aged" components, (and dual core processors)
an h77, g1620, 4GB ram, a PSU included with an antec case.

and any GPU that has been suggested... (but i still dont trust amd low end gpus... everytime i buy one i am disappointed by the speed of the card(on amd systems) but AMD of late has been doing a great job with gpus so a 7750 or a 6850... but a used 560ti gives a 6950/6570 a run for its money.

i just scored an XFX 6850 DDR3 for $58 on amazon, but it looks like they're sold out (upgrade for sis from a 8600GT that broke, then down to a 4350). sadly, looks like they're out of stock.

One of the best deals I've seen in that price range is a new PNY GTX 650 2GB on eBay for $70 w/ $10 shipping. Not a top rated seller yet due to volume, but he has 100% positive feedback after 119 sales. This same card is going for $130 on Newegg right now.

PNY VCGGTX650XPB GeForce GTX 650 2GB 128-bit GDDR5...

That said, it would take around a 20a PSU to run it, but good deals can be had on PSUs too:

that gtx650 is a great card and it will also work with that Anemic 220 watt psu... (and yes that seasonic is also an awesome suggestion)

i have a MYTHbuntu system with a evga 650 superclocked (1202) it has a g1620,asus h77,8GB,3HDDs(2 WD av/gp 3TB, 2TB seagate) and a Seasonic x400 fanless... (subtract 10 watts for only 1 drive)

gtx 650 idles at 46.8Watt;mprime 60.5Watt; 125 Watt furmark+mprime... (evga superclocked)
gtx 660 idles at 47.3Watt;mprime 61.3Watt; 185 Watt furmark+mprime... (pny standard)

so for that "220 watt" PSU a gtx650 is a card I would suggest...
(i have an old 110 delta psu with a 4 amp 12volt rail; so assuming that 220psu has an 8 amp 12volt rail)

TL;DR... get the gtx 650 and the Seasonic. (the gtx650 should work with the 220psu)
