I am suprised you dont know why the Dell price tag is lower, as well as why the 30" monitor is lower now too (it was all over HardForums
).
Anyway, there are 2 main reasons for the low (or lower) price tags.
1. The market has more competition now from LCD monitors sizes 17" - 30" with other manufacturers pricing them much lower than Dell was/is.
2. Dell now has a panel lottery and does not post the LCD info on the back like they used to. So now you don't know what type of panel you have. Plus Dell has been using the less expensive panels as of late. From what I have seen they dont really use SIPS panels anymore, they use MVA panels.
