Thermaltake Introduces V9 Black Edition Mid Tower Gaming Chassis

Thermaltake has dropped a few lines on its home page, announcing its newest mid-tower case with an engine nomenclature. Measuring 462 (H) x 208 (W) x 485 (D) mm, the V9 Black Edition (sounds like an AMG with a supercharger) weights in 6.76kg, has a mesh design and what's more, comes with all-black powder coating including the interior. V9 Black Edition includes two 230mm (800rpm, 15dBA) fans on the side panel and on the top pushing the hot air out from the top. There are two more 120mm (1300rpm, 17dBA) turbo fans placed in front and out the back of the case, front fan also glows in red and can be replaced with a 140mm one. If you're looking for even more cooling, there's a cutout for a small 70x70x10mm fan that can be attached to the back of the motherboard. Inside the case you can put up to 4x 5.25-inch drives and up to 5x 3.5” HDDs, the PSU is bottom mounted and features a dust filter. For more details, please visit this page here. The V9 Black Edition is yet to be priced.

I have always loved the black insides of the case. The behind the mobo fan is cool too.

I need to see more pictures but this case looks like a direct knock off the Antec 900.

Not entirely.

I could see a resemblence on the outside, but the major features on the inside make these completly different birds.

This has side mounted hard drives. Which in my eyes is pointless. It kills airflow to the bottom of the case, and is only good for cable management. "OMG, I can see my sata cables, the earth as we know it is coming to an end"!

This has a bigger side fan. This could be good or bad. I wish it were a bit lower to get better flow, but i'm sure its fine where it is at too.

The black inside is where Antec needs to learn. This is step one for many case modders, because it just looks better. Saves time and manhours on the consumer.

Not to bad though. Yea I can see the inspiration, but thy took the right steps to become different.

Yeah, I love the black inside for sure! And the fan behind the mobo is a new thing that hasnt been done very often, if at all? Im not sure. But I like it. Im no big "fan" of big FAN´s on the side door, Id rather have solid door or windowed door.

I'd like to see their Antec 300 rip off. That is the best midi case next to mine.

In the intrest of making cases a bit smaller they HAD to turn the Hdds sideways or large GPUs wouldnt fit.
What I dont understand is why the companies are so slow to realize that mounting the Hdds above in the DVD rack is superior. And mounting the PS below is a stupid waste of a PS fan.

The fan behind the mobo is a VERY good idea but needs to be lower, there is a lot of heat in the NB/SB area.

Agreed... I have been heavily considering buying a few things and start making my own aluminum cases because of poor engineering.. They almost all seem to be focused on appeal vs the actual functionality.

actually the prob is they are the same basic design as they were 20 years ago. And because we keep buying them they keep making the same old thing.

Making your own is a lot harder than it seems but entirely worth the effort.

(LOL, that case is an almost exact copy of the 900)

Cooler Master CM690 ring a bell, for behind the mobo cooling? Or how about the CM590? So it has been done before, and just as before Thermaltake is once again knocking off the hardwork and creativity of other companies. Seriously, this case is a knock-off of the Antec 900 and the CM590/690 design.

Thermaltake is the only accepted knock-off company that I know of.

Considering the price of the Thermaltake M9, this case shouldn't be priced over $100.
