Grow up WileE. My similar viewpoints are what made this country elect Obama for president and you know I worked for the campaign and helped him take NC. So you are going to hate me for it. I am just hoping that you can look past that and realize its over now and no need to try to make things worse for TPU like you actually care about anyone but yourself.

Erocker the moderator misread one of my posts and insulted me in one of the discussion threads for politics. It makes him not behave like a moderator which is very bad. Like a cancer. So I think we should drop politics from the menu to prevent conflicts.

Politics cause tempers to run high and arguments to develop. As someone has already said,"this is not Politics Power Up". Although the original thread made by W1zzard was good, the spin-offs of the thread were just polarizing.

I say close this thread because the dummest things are said here.
And having ''What is wrong with our forums'' pop op at the front page all the time doesn't seem inviting to me either.
Or just change the title name to Constructive criticism or something like it.

I never said I hated you. I might also be misinterpreting your posts, but they come across as very pretentious at times, especially when it concerns politics.

For instance, the highlighted text in this very quote. That comes across as a personal insult. You say I need to grow up, yet I'm not the one throwing insults around so casually.

It was refering to the political views and your insistance that I wanted to end political discussions because some people disagreed with me. I enjoy politics when its with political science majors at my college. Here its a little different. We aren't a beacon of political and social understanding here at TPU. After all thats not what TPU was created for in the first place. We are here for technical computer discussions on the enthusiast level. Thats what I am here for. If I want to discuss politics I go elsewhere as should everyone. I am drawn into political discussions naturally but they really don't belong here.

Well, fair enough. I can't/won't argue with that logic. But it still doesn't excuse name calling. Either way, I suppose this isn't the place for this. If either of us feel the need to say more, we should probably take it to PM.

Funny detail though, most problems between people here seem to be because people are overly sensitive. If you don't dip your words in sugar, rainbows and teddy bears people will think you wish to hunt them down to torture and eventually kill them.

Initially you could blame it on lingual differences or lack of body language on the internet. Though in most cases it's just the need to bitch. I'm glad you and Wile E didn't decide to escalate it, plenty of other members would.

btarunr.. you are mocking me about calling myself a good member of tpu... whereas you are publically insulting me on the forums, while weilding modding powers? what does that make you bta?
seriously?

as for what's wrong.. i'm not trying to bash intel or anything.. the main this is.. where does the modding break down? it's CLEARLY a violation to a bunch of tpu rules and when it was pointed out to a senior mod here, no action was taken. what about it makes it acceptable? Am i also allowed to post sexual "comicical pictures" with bad slurs and cursing as my avatar? cause i do have some funny images that i've refrained from using. if it's allowed, i'd like to use them.

I would like to think, that most of us here could be sensible enough to change things, for example, I had an Avatar for a couple of weeks that i thought was personally harmless, another member PM'd me and said that he thought it was in-appropriate and he personally found it offensive (it was not political, religios or aimed at any minority group etc)......so i changed it.....why? because I actually DON'T like offending fellow members, now to me, those that would not change is probably because they DO like to offend people, well thats up to them but i wont be sharing any of my TPU time with them, can I ask, did you ask the individual if he would change his Avitar because you didnt like it?

yes, i personnally sent him a polite pm asking him to kindly change his avatar because i was the 3rd person that i knew of to find it very offensive.

A mock deserves a mock. "being a good member of TPU". What I said was, good members don't protest ban-evaders' ban. Prove me wrong.

Violation of bunch of rules is where you're taking everything for a spin. On the one hand, you IM moderators and incite arguments on being "too strict", on the other, get too alarmed by a member's avatar who's not posted for ages, and for whose avatar, nobody (including moderators) objected to, and accuse us of not doing anything? Seriously find something else to do. Now that you brought it up (and made your concerns public by posting here), a moderator should remove the avatar soon.

actually, i have reason to believe that another moderator also protested the ban... would call him a bad member of tpu as well?

as for instant messages.. that has nothing to do with tpu.. its out of tpu and has no connection to the matter at hand and last time i checked tpu rules don't apply to my personal life or my im's. Yes i do accuse the staff for not doing anything.. and guess what? its TRUE. No action has been taken by the administrative staff.. who the matter was passed on to, the mod helping then suggested to post my concerns here.. and i have. Also, many people here have agreed that the avatar should be removed.. why is it that you think that no one finds it offensive? i also believe that another member on here also took a lot of offense and tried to get it removed and nothing was accomplished. why does it matter that he hasn't posted in a while? the image is still visible all around tpu. if i put a similair avatar and don't post for a while, does it make it acceptable?

I turned a friend of mine, a person that has been in a wheelchair due to FIGHTING FOR HIS COUNTRY, to this site do to how helpful this site is. But, he turned away within 20 mins because of how wrong the avatar is. I for one have never thought it should be even allowed. DAN's words even say it shouldn't.... Wonder why I haven't been on... This reason, and this alone. I love the site and everyone on here. Wish them all the best, but even if my brother would have something like that on his Wallpaper, or screensaver, I'd tell him to get that Sh1t off. It's not right, and Wrongful.
Just my 2 cents. Anyone wants to take me on and call me out about my stuff. Come and get some.

Surprise! it does. I'm not going to spread out what you do on IMs here now, but you certainly do resort to harrasment of members or/and moderators and it's very much within rules to sort out disputes with another member, by approaching a moderator. Your notion of "I'll be an angel on TPU, while do whatever I want [nasty] with TPU members on IM" doesn't qualify any logic. If you IM'ed some TPU member and called him a moron, that member can get back to us and report harrasment, since the only thing that got that member to know you or connect you to him, was something in common....TPU membership. So don't behave like you're younger than you already are.

Because it is staff discretion to render action. If the senior moderator you contacted didn't immediately act on your report, it's obvious that the issue you brought up isn't worth his time. A cartoon which nobody took offense for 3 months ago, suddenly causes one guy's enlightenment...like I said, someone will remove the avatar.

Calm down everyone. Staff included while I weigh my options and consider this.

TBH, I don't really think we need to see that happen, he's been quite a helpful member of the board in the past . . .

I wanted to mention, though, I'll try to get in touch with intel and bring up the avy to him - I get the impression he might be willing to be more cooperative if it wasn't coming from a member of the mod-squad at the moment, y'know? If you don't have a problem with my intentions, would you mind letting the other mods know to hold off on mentioning the avatar to him for the moment?
Also consider that intel igent rarely posts anymore so this isn't an extraordinarily pressing matter and certainly does not deserve all the heated emotions that are arising over it. Pause a moment and remember he has had this avatar for years and none of you complained. Surely a resolution can wait a while longer.

how is it irrelavant? i protested the same thing that a collegue of yours did.. if you're calling me a bad member of tpu, then you're calling one of your collegues, that i'm preety sure you wouldn't be, a bad member of tpu. if my non-tpu related im's to a friend of mine that also has tpu membership are so relevant to the discussion. that my point certainly is. also, what's this bull about my im's being monitored by tpu rules? i'm friends with a bunch of people on tpu. i called one of my real life friends a moron yesterday over im, does it give him the right to get me infracted? cause if it does, then tpu management is truely messed up.

Your IM is all yours.

Where moderators step in, is where you use your IM, to contact another TPU member to harass, and that member complains.

I always wondered why the guy that had pedobear as his avatar was told he wasn't allowed to have it. It was kind of strange to me as it was just a cartoon teddybear. Maybe I missed some secret reasoning for its removal. Enlighten me?
