This reminds me of the artic cooling coolers of days past. I still don't understand why artic cooling didn't come out with this first for current gen cards! This particular design for video cards are a proven winner when designed right. To bad it's not longer something we see more of.

In all nice review though

Nice review. Could anyone tell me if it voids your warranty if you replace the HSF on a BFG? I know EVGA covers it as long as you don't damage anything..

Also erocker do you think the TIM could have been better and would give lower temps with better TIM?

With Arctic Cooling MX-2 there is no difference at all. The TIM supplied worked suprisingly well!

the 4870 coolers are okay but it looks like they just didnt bother to much with them knowing people would either just leave them or upgrade them if they where enthusiasts

Yes, I have the VGA Silencer 3 for my 9800 Pro AIW. They were Known As Silencers, and i believe the early ICEQ coolers were theirs, but i think HIS owns the Cooling Design, unless if AC just makes them exclusively for HIS

Looks promising but I reckon the reason they didn't make the vram coolers out of copper is because it would be heavy on the graphics card and it might sag over time.

Btw, erocker, what was your test setup? would give a better idea of how quiet the cooler's fan was

this is actually a much better cooler than the iceq3, they're far overrated...simply copper color painted alu...

You should be able to fit any standard size ram sinks on the vregs of a 4850 without a doubt.
