Your not moving to phenom II right????
if not, then a phenom 9600 should you give good performance I mean not anything special but will give good performance. Actually does that board support am2+ proc??? were you able to confirm that?? because that might be a problem, worse it may limit the HT of the sys if it does. if it does fully support the phenom then the board is fine. If not then do you need crossfire?? and if so do you need 2 cards or 4 cards?? if so go with that board or the 790X or 790GX if not drop back to the 780g or the 770 which are very decent chipsets. and that 4850 looks pretty solid, I see no issues with it, except for possibly the mobo. hmm why no consideration for the X3 I know it sounds out there but it does throw down with the e8400. granted the lowest one costs 100 bucks. But for the cost @ 3.2Ghz, e1200 can outperform it @ 3Ghz if you can get ram that can get up to ~900mhz CL4.
EDIT: Not trying to start an "Intel vs AMD" flamewar here guys. Sorry if my post sounded liek I meant to.

Yea but if he switches intel then the price will be higher cuz of the you'll need to switch the mobo too.

well I'm going with what I can afford... I'm not 100% sure of my budget, but I'm thinking anywhere from 200-350... which is why I put what I did for processor and board. I'm looking at graphics card first and foremost, then on to a new processor / mobo... I figured the quad core would out perform my x2 hands down. I'm not looking for the best of the best... just something that I can depend on, and be able to a little better performance out of.

Totally agree. If your willing to push the budget up to that much brandshould not be an issue and (the "new")Biostar is pretty good. Chipset would matter more IMO.

Umm, personally, I'd look at upgrading you psu if you want to run a 4850.
I'm dubious as to whether your current one is up to the task.

![]() [QUOTE Do you need a 780G board? They have the built in video already. If your gonna be using a 4850 there is no reason to be getting a G based board. Go for something with an FX, they are solid chipsets [/QUOTE] Can you list some FX boards for me??? Last edited by Gilletter; Dec 12, 2008 at 12:07 AM. |

The only FX board I would go for is one with a SB750 and the cheapest one is 170$...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131339 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813136057 And just because its got onboard video doesn't mean its any worse.. Means if your main card dies you have a backup
