I believe the G8 does have and option for a manual transmission, and not just the stupid paddle shifters or "auto stick"... it might just be available for the "GT" or "GXP" models, but here is a pic of the interior of one at a car show.

"Engine(s)
3.6 L LY7 V6
6.0 L L76 V8
6.2 L LS3 V8
Transmission(s)
5-speed 5L40-E automatic
6-speed 6L80-E automatic
6-speed Tremec TR-6060 manual"

Nice car man. I'm more curious as to what you do for a living however.

I ask because in another thread you said you left the house at 15 and here you've already paid off your 2nd Porsche. I know for a fact it can be done contrary to most peoples beliefs. I personally could have done it. I just used my money to buy land and such instead.

Personally - I'd go for the 6L80 . . . I'm more of an A/T kinda guy, auto/sticks are fun for road driving, but for serious pull-away, nothing but an A/T will do - sorry, but I don't know any driver, streeter or professional, that can swap gears as quick as a computer can

I like the side-pipes on the '97. I don't see much like that on street cars here in VA, side-pipes are illegal here.

A couple amusing (to me, anyway) hardware pics from my Talon.

First pic: stock intercooler on the bottom, decent intercooler in the middle, biggie intercooler on top.
You can also see a twin-turbo Toyota Supra intercooler in the fender area on the left that was on there for awhile.

Second pic: cute little 16g turbo on the right, (typical "stage 1 street turbo" upgrade, if that helps some understand).
Stage eleventeen turbo on the left.
I wonder which flows more air?

With stuff like basically exhaust, K&N, 16g @ 20 or so psi, stock intercooler, did 12.7. Full weight. Street tires.

Dunno what it does now with biggie injectors, biggie intercooler, and the stage eleventeen turbo at 25psi.

Really nice shape for 8 years old. I kinda miss my 2002 VW Jetta Turbo.

I'm always faster in a stick car. Autos are sloppy, and the ones that aren't, aren't street worthy.

there are exceptions to the stick rule. Take VW's DSG dual clutch auto. It's quite a bit faster than the manual version. Pro driver tested.

Those aren't true autos, like the one Imperial was mentioning above. They are more like a manual, but computer controlled.

You are missing my point. I was referring to Imperial's post. In his post, he was talking about the 6L-80E, which is not like VW's DSG. It is a normal auto.

And despite everything, I will never buy a car with an auto, even if it is DSG style. It's stick or nothing for me. That's the primary reason I am not the slightest bit interested in the R35 Skyline. If I want clutchless shifting, I'll turn it into a dogbox.

As much as i hate to admit it, his argument holds true more now than ever. The Compy can shift faster than you. The new generation of autos such as the DSG and the skyline are faster than you.

I tend to agree with you in that I enjoy the interaction a true manual generates though.

I am still faster than a normal auto tho.

But at any rate, I don't find autos enjoyable to drive. I am always less connected in an auto. Plus, I hate the way they feel downshifting. I'm a heal-toe downshifter.

Airresearch 60? Clipped?

We had a little (I only have a small amount of space inthe celi) 35 here that was stainless and ceramic bearing, it went to the mine however. I never though we would sell it, and then bam, we got another engine to rebuild.

I still have the core though..... $547 rebuild to the same specs but with a larger pressure scroll.

This time around I really don't want much more than 14PSI to make the engine last longer, and with no intercooler and water injection going in there should be no detonation problems.

Looks clean. How is the Vue holding up? I've never heard many good things about Saturn.
