What's wrong with our forum moderator staff?

i get castrated for posting a pik of myself with an aleged "joint" and get castrated again for typing "sh1t" or "fack" into my post's, i call someone ignorant because they are, and guess what? i get castrated. i reply to a mod's post not agreeing with him and guess what? i get castrated!!

then i see this http://forums.techpowerup.com/showpo...37&postcount=1 type of posting on a regular basis and nothing is said or done......

i'm sick and tired of this BS bias modding and frankly it is the reason why the quality of TPU has gone down in recent time's.

TPU is becoming the next 4chan and [H] and has been for the last little while......

you know there is a Report person button at bottom of screen that can be used if people get out of line.

I disagree. You should use the report button so a moderator who moderates that section can be alerted to such horrible content.

mod's are supposed to be impartial and uphold the forum rule's. regardless if friend's or not.

Didn't you and I have a conversation and you tried to convince me you're not being a martyr? The quality of content at TPU is primarily driven by the members who participate. If members spend time on the content and helping each other, and less on the drama, then TPU is a much better place.

I didn't take it that way... More like suggesting that most pole-dancers are single moms, and he supports pole-dancers. The last part isn't entirely correct either because one might put a certain picture as an avatar just because it's funny or interesting, and not because it actually reflects one's opinion.

What I don't like on these forums? That it's okay for certain member (s?) to have animated avatar and signatures (and choosing ugly ones at that) but it's not okay for the rest of us...

So DaMulta made an inappropriate post, honestly your avatar and sig aren't really appropriate for these forums which are regularly viewed by children, granted they might be mature children who will not take that kind of thing the wrong way, however parents may use their parents computers or share accounts with their parents, for instance I know my dad has made a couple of posts on here when I've shown him a thread and he generally doesn't care about what I do on the internet as long as I don't get viruses or download porn, however he said several avatars were rather inappropriate, he didn't do anything though since they weren't doing me any harm, however other parents may take offense at them. Also your signiature is pretty much encouraging post hunting, although my posts aren't always the most helpful that's only through a lack of knowledge and I provide as much help as I can (no system building stuff for instance.)

This isn't about particular members. If you have a problem with the way the forums are being run/moderated, by all means post here. If you have a problem with a member(s), report it, or PM a moderator.

just to throw my two cents into this - for starters, that avatar is by no means offensive, derogatory or otherwise . . . if we were on a crusade here to remove avatars that some person or being were to find offensive, then every single avy on this site would get scrapped . . .

we could even look as mine as being offensive to practitioners of martial arts because it mocks how the practice of martial arts is portrayed . . .



on topic though, I have to kind of agree with intel - again. Granted, I'm not one to jump on another's post for being offensive . . . that's a moderators job. Personally, I recognize if a post would be offensive to another, but me being the way I am, rarely even take offense when such comments are aimed at me . .. how often do I use the report button? Does this mean I condone such types of posts? Hardly . . . there are some threads and topics I personally find to be rather disgusting and have absolutely no place on a tech forum, but I also recognize that many users spend a lot of time here, and people will naturally want to discuss things other than tech - that's what GN is for. As long as it doesn't become explicit, out-of-control, or excessivelly offensive, I don't see a reason to report it just because I don't agree with it. Others will feel differently, and in such cases, it's up to the moderators to have the final say if there is a problem with it or not . . .

but, in regards to intel - it always seems like there are other users always coming down on him with little or no really good reason. Take for example his current avatar - why, oh why, is there a need to bring that up? Is it really that bad? Seriously?! And to take it back further last time the avatar was brought up, it was users ragging on him for an avatar that had been there for as long as I had been on this board . . . and no one had a problem with it until then, and all of a sudden it turns into a major issue - and people wanting to jump to and take action when the user in question can not even make a post on this site in his own defense.

If you ask me . . . that is a biased action in the most basic sense of the term. Regardless of if said avatar did technically break the forum rules, it had been in place for so long that requiring immediate action was not only foolish and ridiculous, but rather uncalled for . . . and it's not like any moderator could not be partially held accountable for that as well because one would have to have been fully, 100% blind to not have taken note of his avatar prior to it being made an issue . . . and if the whole army of mods, administrators, and TPU Spetsnaz didn't feel that it was offensive before, why did it only become offensive and necessitate immediate action when one other user decided to lodge a complaint?


I'm not saying here that any specific moderators are unfair and biased here - but I definitely see the point that intel is trying to make, and I fully agree with him that a bias always seems to be presented in that it does truly seem that he is constantly being singled out from the crowd for actions that are quite common with other users.





And, off topic here, I'm getting rather tired of being the only other user here who seems to see the view points he tries to present, and being the only user that seems to not jump on the "oh-well-get-over-it" man-train.

I've been on these forums longer than you, and I can't remember ever seeing or reading something offensive that wasn't dealt with. Within a year or so, there have been so many people that have joined the site, it's almost countless, half of them under the age of 18, and here in the USA, 18 is considerred an adult, and the person can legally view "adult material". Some users here are 14, 15, 16.. catch my drift? I personally take no offense to it, but was merely pointing something out. But now I'm being singled out by you, because I actually think in regards to others... This is a Tech site, not a pron site, sorry.

For the most part the Mods seem to do a good job. They only step in when something gets way OT or someone is getting a little too outta line. Saying that i haven't been here for that long so don't know all the Mods.

To be completely honest with you guys the only thing wrong i see with these forums.... is this thread... the way i've always seen any forum is just what it is, a community and with any community you have all of the things you have here, good citizens, bad citizens, rude, nice, sexist, racist, facist, pessimistic, loving, caring, supportive, helpful... the list goes on. think of the mods as politicians, some are great, some are ok, some could be corrupt(if they are, they cover well).

as far as the content i've never been offended. i like to look at this as a safe haven for all and when i come here i see things i think a 14 year old shouldn't see(sometimes posted by a 14 year old too) and i don't blame the mods/form/wiz/ or any other member for any offensive material. If you're offended pm the person, state a valid argument about the offensive material and if it doens't get resolved, contact a mod and let them take care of it.

If you're argument for offensive sexual/lewd material is that you're 12 well then all i have to say to that is you're mother should probably force you to go outside and play a sport or something. We all see offensive material every single day and if i could go and tear it down i would but i just chalk it up to society which is what tpu is, an online society, group, forum, community, or whatever you want to call it. there is always gonna be something you don't agree with and that is the very joy of being able to make our own choices. if you don't like it deal with it, if it's truly offensive deal with it, if you just can't stand it, go somewhere else.

oh and i read through a few pages.... and i believe wiz said no arguments... so keep it that way please.

ill put my 2 cents in, the mods handle stuff around here way better than a site i used to go to that will remain nameless to prevent getting censured by it, and this site is not as biased against topics as that other site, but i will say this, if you have issues with the policies around here, you should review the fair use policy and understand what its saying and if you have a problem with it specify which part here and state what your problem is with it, overall this site is better than the 1 i was going to over 2 years, as of 2007 ive stopped showing there because of their biased attitudes.
