Stock hs/fan from E7200 on E2160
as the title suggests ,i have just got an E2160 but the only hs/fan i have around is the stock version from my E7200 which is somewhat smaller/weedier than the normal hs you get with a E2160.
just checking really thats it up 2 to job really ,i thought with the E2xxx series coming with a bigger hs than the E7200 that it might not be quite up to it ?. i don't plan on overclocking it at all as its replacing my 3rd rig ,which doesnt do any gaming ,i just wanted soemthing with a bit more speed so opening windows in xp doesnt take forever like it currently does on the P3 ![]() so ok to use the smaller hs on the E2160 at stock speeds?

I would say it will do the job, but it may be a bit warmer in doing so. Personally if it is all I had laying around, I'd give it a go. Just be sure you can monitor the temps closely.
Is this rig built with an OS already installed?

It should be fine. From a little experiment I did personally with stock Intel heatsinks, the size is only good for a few degrees difference. Try to keep the case clean and give it the best airflow you can for maximum results.

Well boot it and look in the PC health section to see the temps in bios. if it looks ok there go ahead ans install the OS!

well the pc is up and running now with the lesser cooler and appears to be just fine at stock settings (1.8ghz) temps for the cpu are in the low 30s when just idling/downloading so is fine ,i havent bothered checking at load because tbh the PC will never probably be at load.
thanks for the advice all.
