i've been asking around for a while now on what ppl want to see in a new block design.

this is what i have come up with. the idea was mine but i left it up to Bentlya to put the idea into perspective.

the idea is a single slot gpu only block.

early pics....

what do you think?

thats not a bad design at all...do you think the copper base should be totally flat though? in order to cool the memory?....

I remember seeing your thread on this elsewhere, wasn't the ultimate goal of this design to be fairly universal in which GFX cards it works with?

cool its deff good stuff. i love single slot cooling blocks that work well...another thought on thermal problems...i dont know if it would really effect it alot...but would it be a better idea to put the input barb directly over the GPU? i only say this because depending on how long the card runs it will raise the temp of all of the copper on the block meaning the water entering the rear of the block will heat up slightly before it reaches the GPU.

Not that I know anything about this, but picturing that in my head, I see that possibly interfering with other parts depending on how exactly the tubing would run?

yep. thats what we are trying to do here.

the idea is to cool a normal persons video card(s) while allowing it to stay single slot. super OCs arent a goal here. if it allows you to oc better than thats just a +.

i will take in consideration yours and everyones thoughts and ideas.

I agree with you an dark on this i was just saying whanna know what would be an intresting idea? instead of mounting them vertically tword the block. mount them horizontally like on the side of the block so the hoses and barbs dont take up more space under the block...it would make it easier to install other cards....if you arent quite grasping my concept just like the 9800GX2 and i bealive the GTX cards were the power plugs are on the top of the card....not behind or under but at the top

i get what your saying sol. its just not ideal for cost here. we are already talking about $75 - $90 block here.

Well I do have 3x GTX 260's sitting here and I don't follow your reference to those, but I think I catch your drift in having the barb come up then bend to go parallel with the card like it was in the shape of a corner or L.

Just as a note to start I dont know crap on thermal dynamics or what makes a block good or not.

The last couple of images make me think the water isnt forced in the pins enough. It seems to me there is too much room for it to blow by. I realize the pressure of the pump may correct this, but would forcing the water to only go throught the middle pins perform better or worse?

the first pic is the actual production model thats going to be milled in 2 weeks. we need to test one before i will let them out into the market.

i MAY pass it around to a select group of people for fitment testing but thats a ways off still.

DONT ASK.

Would of had the input holes raised and at an angle, so the tubes could go in side ways, like when get a drip put in your arm?

the needle is at an angle, I know what I mean ha ha XD

I could draw a picture if my description is to vague.

so as it sits...the long bit with the fittings comes out the side, correct?

Also assuming the fittings will be universal top or bottom mount?

Are the barbs going to be in the same place you generally find them, on the top of the card like the SLI/Xfire connectors? In the first picture, due to the length of the "arms" from the barbs to where the actual chip would be looks long, like it would go from the end of the card.

it looks really long but its because you are used to seeing alot more bulk there on a full cover block.

this is just like a full cover block just its gpu only(and the mems under the waterways)

like pictured here...

Sorry for the necro... just wondering if anything ever came of this.

I'm looking for a single-slot, gpu-core-only block for my 560Ti.
But there doesn't seem to be anything around amazingly enough!

There's single-slot full-covers, which i imagine are harder to design/fabricate.
So i don't know why there aren't single-slot gpu-core-only's!?!

Thank-you.

^ Nope, no mention of 560 Ti support unfortunately :(
Fitseries3 if you're still about, can you please confirm whether you're still working on this?
If not, do you know of any similar concepts?

Thanks!

no mentions doesn't mean it doesn't fit, the 560 has the same layout as the 460.
