Even Bruce Campbell said that he cant watch it without rolling his eyes. You ever seen the extended version of Army of Darkness? That one kicks utter ass.

Well this isnt a classic yet but my vote is for "The Big Lebowski". The John Goodman character in that movie IS my father. No question. Here some quotes....

Quote:
The Dude: Walter, ya know, it's Smokey, so his toe slipped over the line a little, big deal. It's just a game, man.
Walter Sobchak: Dude, this is a league game, this determines who enters the next round robin. Am I wrong? Am I wrong?
Smokey: Yeah, but I wasn't over. Gimme the marker Dude, I'm marking it 8.
Walter Sobchak: [pulls out a gun] Smokey, my friend, you are entering a world of pain.
The Dude: Walter...
Walter Sobchak: You mark that frame an 8, and you're entering a world of pain.
Smokey: I'm not...
Walter Sobchak: A world of pain.
Smokey: Dude, he's your partner...
Walter Sobchak: [shouting] Has the whole world gone crazy? Am I the only one around here who gives a shit about the rules? Mark it zero!
The Dude: They're calling the cops, put the piece away.
Walter Sobchak: Mark it zero!
[points gun in Smokey's face]
The Dude: Walter...
Walter Sobchak: [shouting] You think I'm fucking around here? Mark it zero!
Smokey: All right, it's fucking zero. Are you happy, you crazy fuck?
Walter Sobchak: ...It's a league game, Smokey.
As for classics no one beats......

Not one John Wayne movie in there. For shame.

Cool, as a big movie buff it is nice to have a thread that I can see recommendations for other good movies.

Oh and 2001: A Space Odyssey is absolutely phenomenal in 1080p HD. It is amazing to watch considering how old the movie is.

Finally someone mentioned the shawshank redemption. Man that had to be Tim Robbin's best movie he ever did.

Patton is definately on my list. I plan to on tuesday to post all my pics for the 70's era, only ones I'm skipping is the mad max series and Rocky, and star wars, just because I've seen those so many times.

it's interesting to note that Germany had a huge cinema boom during the 70's, strangely enough this is after the previous decades French New wave by France. Same with Australia who had a huge boom in the 70's
