Besides some people having absolutely zero sense of humor, I think the forum is fantastic! TPU Ftw!

Honestly I never ever imagine there could ever have been something wrong with TPU... until I read this thread...

In one way it allows members to vent in public, in another way it brings up issues which might never have gotten noticed or given bother to the majority of members at all.

Excellent point Bp. I suppose in many ways it's like a way to blow off steam while publicly validating one's concerns/annoyances. Very good point! I know one thing, I have yet to find a better site with the info and the Mods whom are fair and reasonable. It got pretty squirrelly about 6 or 7 months ago, but it has been fantastic ever since. I love this place.

In addition to my earlier point (keeping gripes localised in one area rather than scattered throughout the forum) there is another reason this thread is important: A safe place to make a constructive criticism. I know of people who get the sour end of a mod's attitude... yes, unfortunately, mod's language and attitude in private messages is sometimes quite different from their public persona. I didn't quite understand the various comments about how members got into "run-ins" with mods, got ever escalating infractions, bans, or just said "asta la vista". But I have seen it in practice in private messages. And that's not good. So yes, this is an important thread, because it is the only place to hold up the mirror to the mods/administrators/owners of the site. I think that is good for checks and balances reasons. And to encourage the holders of the TPU torch to see the importance of consistency throughout. From members; and to members. From mods; and to mods.

In general, this really is an excellent forum, and the mods stand out as doing an excellent job. Some are indeed great ambassadors not only to TPU but to community management in general.

Moderators are humans. They reciprocate your behaviour/actions/attitude. They don't function on the basis of a concrete protocol (hence the mention that they're human) but on the basis of an algorithm. By experience, the algorithm is not one bit flawed (as in, does not need improvement). Likewise, moderator action is always a response, never a stimulus. As long as the stimulus remains legitimate, so does our response. Whenever a stimulus and its response are found to be illegitimate, rest assured, the moderator action is quickly undone.

And yes, this is a great community, members always form the fabric of a community, and many of them are great ambassadors of not only TPU but the computer enthusiast community in general.

bta has it stated perfectly here.

to re-iterate in laymans terms: mods dont act on their own initiative. its only when they've clearly broken a rule that everyone is aware of, or another user complains about their behaviour that we take action.

Moderators do not act, we react.

I've been looking at a number of folks posting multiple threads for [FS] when they could consolidate threads into one and the FS/WTB/WTT list would be a lot less crowded by any one person. I think this issue could use a bit of looking into and if possible, enforcement.

That has been brought to the lounge and discussed, it wan't made manditory to do this, but it would be nice if members would do so!

I like that idea, it keeps things much cleaner and easier to track and find out what is really for sale!

The real issue is naming it something universal to start, that way you dont have to depend on title changes every time you want a new product listed.

Such as T_Ski, Linkin, and mayself have done, as well as many others, that way the members can maintain it and add products at their leasure.

Well, my take on it (now) is that multiple threads is fine as it really does help sell an item faster. However, creating multiple threads is somewhat inconsiderate to other members trying to sell their wares. I don't see a need to add any more rules, but everyone who does post in the B/S/T forum should remember to be considerate towards other members. Also, a pushy seller who is constantly making several threads to sell their wares doesn't look very good to others on this forum. So all should keep that in mind.

its all about patience but i think what should be mandatory for BST, should be the User Name in the Title.

Why? It tells you the user name right underneath the thread title already.

I think all users should have the ability to change their own thread title in the BST forum. That would save the mods a bit of hassle with renames.

I think the posters should take a little time and come up with a good thread title in the first place. This would elimate the need for title changes completely.

Not picking on you WileE, just saying.

What if, say the thread title becomes irrelevent throughout its life though but that would be kinda rare.

I guess I do not understand that. Unless the thread dies and should be closed, why would the threads title become irrelevant? Especially in a BST thread.

Thats why I said it was rare and I'd like to change my thread title sometimes. For example I made a thread called 4870X2 or GTX280 I think but over time it should have changed to 4870 or gtx260 but I didn't pm a mod to bother them about something that trivial.

Because people often add or remove things from their existing threads, as opposed to creating a new thread.
