Which 4830 to get?!
So I'm gonna get a 4830 here very soon and I want to pick up two immediately! I'm debating the Asus or XFX brand. Both are very similar but yet different, so I want TPU's valuable opinion for which to get!
Specs for each card are almost identical but here's the differences: XFX has a 1800MHz Mem clock Asus has a 2000MHz Mem clock XFX has a lifetime warranty where Asus has a 3 year warranty. The Asus is only about $10-20 bucks cheaper and I'm thinking its a single slotter. What do you think!!

I like the XFX for sure. Just personal prefference with the cooler design.

id go with an XFX because i think its a reference design. may be they even offer double life time warranty on this? Plus they tolerate after market coolers.

XFX better looking. I like better those covered cards
.But 2000 mem on ASUS is tempting. Both are large versions, reference or close to reference so they would overclock great IMO. |

Great! Thanks for the help so far. Can anyone confirm if the Asus is a single slot design?

MSI, hands down. Cheapest, 3-year warranty based on serial number, best cooler. Look up the reviews.

My vote-in: MSI 1GB model, has 4+1 phase and it's little brother is also a 4+1. Makes it a proven overclocker.

Most of the XFX users are mentioning the cooler, how well does it help cool the card?
Should I just get one of each?!??! I'm ready to buy, but I'm really interested to know if I can run them three of the Asus in TriFire!!! FTW!!!

You could but I would run 8.11 cats. Be aware you will need a couple crossfire bridges as none of them come with the 2 that is required.
EDIT: Oh also, you may want to run Vista/Windows 7 for that configuration too. |

Can you say why XFX over Asus? Overclocking potential is a must here!

Go with the xfx because of the cooler blowing air out the back and because of xfx's warranty.
Although I've never gotten an Asus product that has taken a shit on me... I HAVE gotten xfx products that took dumps. XFX > Asus in warranty Asus > XFX in quality Or at least that is my experience with both with video cards at least. Oh, and I think you get xfx's double lifetime warranty which is a big + when trying to sell the thing later down the road. |
