Build for friend(strict 800$ budget)
My friend has been saving up for a long time but he recently got fired from his job.. He's got 800$. Here's what I got so far. Me and him are gonna work at a local place in the summer so we're both going with dual 4870's when we get our first paychecks
![]() ![]() After shipping it's 795$ so it's cuttin it close. I'm gonna order it on Monday night for him and build it by Friday hopefully. I'll try and get him into overclocking and get him to post some benchmarks ![]() I got him covered on the OS, thermal compound and DVD drive |

Not in Nebraska, no. I'm pretty sure he won't get the certain batch since erocker didn't and he got his recently too. I'm getting a 720BE too when I get some money and we're gonna be trying to best each other in both fields. I got a ASUS HD 4870 1gb coming and like I said I'm buying a 720BE in a few months.

That HDD is expensive. For the same $75, you can get a WD6400AAKS. This drive is definitely larger and probably faster than that 500GB one.
IMHO, I'd pick a better case. Generally speaking, you upgrade your case the least, so better to get a good one now than to have to get another later. I'm not saying that case won't work, it's just not something I'd get. If I'm on a budget I pick the Antec 300 by default. I know that streches your budget, but you can balance the case with a smaller PSU. That PSU (650TX) still give you plenty of headroom for the future. And if you still need/want to cut some costs, you can drop down to a 512MB 4870. If the system won't be gaming at 1920x1200 or larger, more than 512MB really isn't needed. |

He has a 1920x1080 monitor exactly like mine and the case is fine. I use the same case for a HTPC and it's really good.
I have a Antec 300, I hate it lol |

Power supply is way bigger than it needs to be, get the 550 maybe or maybe even 450.. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139003 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139004 Both still provide plenty enough power for this system. Check for bundle deals on the processor too.. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...Size=10&page=1

He's getting another 4870 when we get a job so a 700w+ is pretty much needed. I might change to that 640 but I would have to downgrade something..

Looks pretty good and you should always plan for the next year of upgrades, so if he is going to add another 4870 it's foolish not to buy the psu to support that.
Where in NE are you? I am in Lincoln... |

change the drive for a 7200.12 seagate SINGLE PLATTER, then get a cheaper 4870 and use that money towards a better mobo (gigabyte 790x im looking at you)

That's fine and good, remember my last post when things go wrong with the board and you are trying to remedy the problem.
In my opinion buy a board that has good support. Jetway does not have good support. That is based on personal experience.
