I understand privelages, but surely animated sigs and avatars were banned for a reason?

kyle2020 posted the same thing I was gonna post:
And I know Dan is not technically braking the rules, just seems a shame that it is (IMO) one rule for him another for everyone else. (on the sig/avatar side of things)

.....London......
"London is in Germany!" "Nah, I think it's a little west from there" "No I'm sure it's elsewhere" bta: "London is in England, case closed" Each time there's a discussion of that nature, people (the readers) get judgmental about the content and the way it's presented. Discussions of all nature crop up. In that discussion, It's likely that I am the most informed. I try to direct the progress of the thread by putting up facts (which as any other member, I'm 100% entitled to). Do again look up the word "moderator". A moderator is a person whose duty is to control the proceedings of an ongoing discussion, in attempts to put it on the right track, to meet its logical conclusion. thats not a discussion, thats geographical fact. An open discussion on a video card doesnt need closure by a single person does it? And this is coming from a person of high authority on this forum?

I agree with Polaris 573, they should be able to have a few privileges. Now if Dan was letting his buddies do that that would be a different story. Why are we nit picking petty shit. This is a great forum. Maybe not perfect but what is. Some times I think people just need to lighten up and have alittle fun with this.

I'm not nit picking, I just always wanted to ask why Dan is allowed animated sigs and avatars. Have always wondered since I joined. Saw this discussion talking about mods so I thought I would take the opportunity.

Facts / most likely explanations are what I deal with, as well. Saving you a few posts of "it looks more like this/that" and in the process putting the core discussion back on track, is very much part of a moderator's job. Before each news post on upcoming products, I have thorough discussions with experts in the field, in the process learn more myself. The news is put though a lot of research from our side, even if we aren't the original authors of it. We try to give you, the reader a little more than something that's merely conveyed from another article from elsewhere on the internet. Last edited by btarunr; Mar 9, 2009 at 09:10 PM. |

Hey!
I'm just gunna jump in here and give my 2 cents worth. First, moderators, don't be so defensive, this, I mean this thread, (IMHO), is supposed to be constructive criticism. When someone posts here, I'm going to assume they aren't attempting to personally attack any of the mods, but they might strongly disagree with the way things get done, and since its an opinion question, I don't think there is too much of a right and wrong... Next, I've never found erocker to have a massive stick up his ass, and from my limited experience here at TPU, I've found him to be one of the more laid back mods (which is great). I will have to say, there are moderators that I find at times may match the above mentioned description. One example I would cite would be Binge's thread in the B/S/T forum. I don't recall which moderator this was, and I don't particularly care, but I do remember there being an issue with Binge saying something like "I reserve the right to flip out on anyone who repeatedly lowballs or backs out of a deal". Whichever moderator it was started arguing with Binge on what "lowballing" was, and that if he "flipped out" on anyone, that he would get an infraction or some other sort of punishment/scowling. I mean, I understand that "technically" flipping out on someone isn't a good thing, but come the hell on, that's just being overbearing. Everyone knows what lowballing is, and its obvious what Binge means by that entire statement/disclaimer. I'm not saying its the best thing to do/have done on Binges part, but whichever moderator acted upon that thread must have been in either a really bad mood, been pissed at Binge, or was just being a very anal person (that would be a negative quality in a moderator). I also disagree with the whole different countries different humor thing. If someone can't take a joke that is acceptable in other places around the world, they really must have some issues with their sense of humor. You might not think its funny, but if your offended by gay people being married to hookers while both parties are hitting the bong, you've got to lighten up. There are a few things wrong with TPU, but overall its the only forum I've seen that feels like a group of friends rather than some morons somewhere on the interwebz. P.S. Post more hot deals, I always have to find my own

I apologise that my opinion has ruffled a few feathers, and I'm sorry but that is just my view on the forum. Im not going to have a go or anything anymore, I'll just trundle along and have a good time.

Hey, I've just noticed something, and I have one of three explanations (all of which could be wrong), now I apologize in advance if this has been asked before, but I just noticed that:
Polaris573 and Thermopylae_480, were both born on February 3, 1986 and are both at Arkansas Fayetteville So my explanations: 1, They are twins 2, They are the same person 3, Coincidence?
