New red XBOX360 pads, do they have the new D-Pad design?

Does anyone know if the new 'Red Elite' (Resident Evil 5 Edition) control pads feature the new D-Pad design (16 way instead of 8 way I think....or 32 instead of 16 lol)

Surely a new D-pad design would be pointless? Games will only be coded for whatever the current direction count it is, and even if they coded new games to use it, it would have to be backwards compatible, or there would be chaos.

Where did you hear that there was a new D-pad design anyway?

Sorry this post sounded so blunt, lol.

The limited edition 'green' official pad featured a redesigned D-Pad....optimized for PES 09

People are using them for SFIV also....but Im not sure if CAPCOM wrote in the code to make the most of the new D-Pad (but I thought that would have because of the MadCatz SFIV pads featuring a better floating D-Pad design)

lol btw about being blunt

PS: look on ebay at the prices of the Ltd Ed green pads....its pathetic lol

PPS: XCM sell unofficial control pad casing's that feature a new D-Pad design

Thing is, all my games the D-pad only ever gets used for basic commands, no movement. Or major controls. I hardly use the D-pad, lol.
